Jeff Green Discusses Road To Recovery With The Boston Celtics

Growing up in a family who loved Georgetown Hoyas college basketball, Jeff Green has always been one of my favorite players in the NBA and has had to deal with some trials and tribulations in his 5-year career. Picked up as the 5th overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Boston Celtics, he was part of the monumental trade that landed Ray Allen and sent him to the Oklahoma City Thunder, then the Seattle SuperSonics.

In the 2011 season, Jeff Green would be part of the most controversial trade in Celtics history that sent him back home in exchange for Kendrick Perkins who most of the basketball world (myself included) thought the trade was blasphemous. On December 17th of last year, 8 days before the season started, Green would be diagnosed with aortic aneurysm which would lead to an immediate open heart surgery causing the 25-year old kid to miss the entire season.

In the clip above, Jeff discusses missing the entire 2012 season after having surgery and silencing doubters since his return to the court averaging 10 points a game with only 23 minutes of play on the deepest team in the NBA.
