After the 2015-2016 NBA campaign, the choice was clear cut: Karl-Anthony Towns was the undisputed rookie of the year and it was confirmed on Monday, as he took home the unanimous honors.

The Minnesota Timberwolves youngster joins the elite list of Damian Lillard, Blake Griffin, David Robinson and Ralph Sampson as the fifth player to become unanimous choice.

He finished the season averaging 18.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks, something that a big man hadn’t accomplished since Tim Duncan when he came out of Wake Forest.

The young T-Wolves didn’t improve by leaps and bounds from last season, but with a squad that consists of Andrew Wiggins, Zach Lavine and Ricky Rubio, plus new head coach Tom Thibodeau, they look poised to shake up the Western Conference for years to come. Towns’ efficiency on the offensive side of the court (draining threes and mid-jumpers) as well as his prowess defensively make him a corner piece for the franchise as they continue to build.
