Perkins visits the Woj podcast

A few days ago, Kendrick Perkins stopped by the Adrian Wojnarowski to discuss an array of topics throughout his career, from winning a championship with the Boston Celtics, as well as being the personal mediator between his ex-teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

At the moment, neither player is talking anymore after the summer, which Perkins said is bothering him at the moment – which he wants to put the two in a group message together down the line. After blowing a 3-1 lead against the Warriors in May, Durant decided to join a team that did the same in the NBA Finals, which many of us personally found baffling.

During the conversation, Kendrick explained how neither player had dislike for each other on the court and cited outside influences were the deciding factors of the breakup. He also explained how Russell valued Kevin more than vice versa, saying that Westbrook didn’t get recognition for being elite status for being an elite status.

Perkins said he personally told Durant to only join the San Antonio Spurs if he wanted to leave OKC, but said Kevin should’ve used LeBron James’ Miami Heat exit in 2014 to not burn any bridges.

Kendrick explained how LeBron sat down with both Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in free agency to address them face-to-face before leaving – something Durant didn’t do a few months ago.

Listen to the entire hour-long conversation below and let us know in the comments what you think.
