Flip Saunders passes away at the age of 60
The basketball world has been hit with some unfortunate news before the start of the 2016 season. After 17 years coaching professionally, Flip Saunders has sadly lost his battle to cancer at the age of 60. As you would expect, the passing of the NBA great has affected those most close to him not only in his immediate family most of all – but also his former players and colleagues throughout sports.
One player in particular who essentially spent more time with him than any other player is Kevin Garnett, who returned home to Minnesota to retire as a member of the Timberwolves.
With the addition of presumably rookie of the year Karl-Anthony Towns, as well as the emergence of Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, Minny looked to be a team with a bright future all helmed by Flip. While Mr. Saunders is longer with the world, our condolences go out to his family, friends and former players like KG the Kid. Take a look at the emotional tribute below.
