Louisville Cardinals Men’s basketball lost their sophomore guard Kevin Ware to horrific injury Sunday in their blowout victory of the Duke Blue Devils in the elite 8. With Ware’s broken leg, the breath was taken out of the game and the elite 8 with every person in the arena only concerned about his safety.

Kevin immediately went into surgery preceding the game that was successful, in which a rod was inserted into his right tibia to reset the bone. In his first sit-down interview since the injury, Ware discusses how he’s been able to maintain good spirits throughout the injury last week including an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman.

He’s been overwhelmed by the support so much including phone calls from Jesse Jackson, Charles Barkley, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Kenny Smith all showing concern to his well-being. Not really one to be in the media-spotlight, Ware’s been able to handle the situation with grace that has opened his eyes to the difficulties people have with being paralyzed including almost having that same fate.

Kevin will be on the bench tonight in support of the Cardinals with hopes of the teaming advancing past the Final Four and heading to Monday’s big showdown for the tournament trophy. He’s expected to make a full recovery and will be back on the court next season humbling all college basketball players with an injury possible for anybody on the court.
