In a recent interview with CBSSports.com, Lakers captain, Kobe Bryant spoke briefly about the difficulty of being able to maintain elite level play after the 13-14 season saying,
“It’s just that three more years seems like a really long time to continue to stay at a high, high level of training and preparation and health,” Bryant said. “That’s a lot of years. For a guard? That’s a lot of years.”
Bryant, who’s 5th on the NBA’s most career points list, is just under 3,000 points from passing Michael Jordan at 3rd if he continues to play at elite level basketball the next two years. Passing the “Mailman” and “Cap” would seem unrealistic in only two years of play. If the 2014 season will be the final one from the Black Mamba, he would’ve retired as the 2nd most success shooting guard of all time behind the master, no. 23 himself.
