The 2016 NBA Champion doesn’t know what means
This week, Kyrie Irving is gearing up for the United States men’s national basketball team run, with training camp beginning next Monday. However, with members of the collective enjoying stateside time before their Brazil deploy, Complex Magazine caught up with the co-captain of the Cleveland Cavaliers to discuss the team bringing the town their first title in over fifty years.
The biggest story of the NBA off-season, has been the Golden State Warriors’ acquisition of Kevin Durant – which was immediately done after the team blew a 3-1 series lead to the Cavs last month. During the conversation with the publication, Kyrie touched on reuniting with his former college coach at Duke, Mike Krzyzewski, who’s retiring from Olympic play at the end of the summer.
Although, the focus was on the celebration of his milestone career achievement, Irving is looking ahead to 2017, where he plans to defend his title alongside LeBron James, Kevin Love and the others. Take a look at what he had to say regarding people viewing the champions as underdogs.
I don’t know what that feels like. I don’t know what it feels like to be an underdog. I never see myself as an underdog at any moment in my life. Coming into next season there will probably be some favorites, but I definitely don’t see us as an underdog. Read more Kyrie’s interview with Zach Frydenlund.
