Lakers Trade D’Angelo Russell to Nets for Brook Lopez and Draft Pick

We are only days away from the NBA Draft and the Los Angeles Lakers are active. Not only are they in talks to acquire Paul George through trade (ahead of his pending free agency move in 2018), but they have also been making calls to get another draft pick in this year’s draft.

Now, news has broke that the Lake Show have moved one of the pieces in their young core in D’Angelo Russell, who is headed to the Brooklyn Nets alongside Timofey Mozgov in exchange for Brook Lopez and the 27th pick in this year’s draft. The deal clears $45 million in cap space for Los Angeles, who are looking to add PG13 and another All-Star in free agency next season. Brooklyn gets a young guard to build around and help for the future, while unloading Lopez’s expiring contract.

This all but solidifies the Lakers in drafting Lonzo Ball on Thursday with the No. 2 pick, unless they make some more moves and somehow find another way to acquire more lottery picks.
