Lamelo vs. Zion!
We normally hate anything associated with AAU Basketball, but the sports world was granted a rare game between two of the nation’s top high school prospects. LaMelo Ball, who’s committed to UCLA in 2019, got into a duel against undeclared senior, Zion Williams.
The likes of Damian Lillard, Andrew Wiggins and Eric Gordon all attended the Adidas Uprising Summer Championships game in Las Vegas, alongside an even crazier crowd.
Initially, local police threated to shut down the game, due to security concern; but the Big Ballers and South Carolina Supreme felt nothing would happen at the event. The showdown even came to seconds of being cancelled right before tipoff, but was given a greenlight by LVPD.
LeBron James and his new teammate Derrick Rose also planned to attended the game; but felt the frenzy from fans was too much for them to enjoy the experience. In the game, Zion outshined Ball for the duration of the meeting, showing off his insane athletic ability and speed against kids half his size (he’s 6’7 by the way and just turned 17 this month).
LaMelo did get his fair share of highlights in the game, breaking a few ankles and mimicking some threes like idol Steph Curry. However, Williamson was just too much for the Big Ballers in their Wednesday night loss, as you can watch the bulk of the action below.
