Derrick Rose Agrees to Sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers

With all the drama surrounding Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers, it seems like if things go south, they got a point guard to back up and take the reigns right away. An injury ridden former MVP that hasn’t been the same since those knee blowouts, but someone that LeBron James wants on the team at least for next season. There’s no way Rose could replace Irving’s production or that they match the same level of skill at this level, but Derrick has shown flashes of his former self when he’s not sitting out through injury.

With more money on the table from the Los Angeles Lakers, D-Rose has decided to join King James in The Land and sign for the one-year, veteran minimum salary of $2.1 million.

Apparently, Rose has been in close contact with James, who certainly recruited him to play for the Cavs in case that point guard position becomes available and the team offloads Kyrie as he has requested. For now, both are on the team and will suit up for Cleveland.

How long that will last, remains to be seen.

No shots at Rose, but he’s certainly not the signing that will get the Cavs over the hump to contend with the Golden State Warriors come June. Unless they get some good pieces back for Kyrie.

The offseason saga in Cleveland continues, though.
