On Saturday night, LeBron James made NBA history by becoming third on the all-time scoring list, passing up Kobe Bryant. It was a great achievement that was quickly overshadowed by the tragic death of the Black Mamba, his daughter Gigi and seven others on a helicopter on Sunday morning.
After seeing video of LBJ crying when the Lakers landed in the airplane and upon hearing the news on Sunday, he has taken to social media to try to muster up the words to say that would help him and his fans during this time of grief.
Obviously, James and Bryant not only had been rivals on the court, but developed a friendship over the years and considering LBJ just became part of the Los Angeles Lakers organization, their bond strengthened in recent years. Kobe was seen at plenty of Lake Show games this year and his last tweet and Instagram post was a congratulations to LeBron himself for the historic record.
Continuing to move the game forward @KingJames. Much respect my brother 💪🏾 #33644
