The Warriors are likely to match any offer
After striking out with high-end free agents for the second consecutive year, Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban is a bit salty this summer. At the moment, the Mavs plan to offer Golden State Warriors swing-man, Harrison Barnes, a 4-year deal worth an estimate $95 million. Barnes, who’s only 24, was originally drafted by the Warriors in 2012 and won a championship with the team last season.
However, after putting up horrific numbers in the NBA Finals and obtaining arguably the worst shooting percentage for a post-season series, his original market value was to be believed small.
That was until reports surfaced that both Dallas and the Philadelphia 76ers were planning large offers to the small forward this month. Cuban and Dallas plan to get a signature from Harrison on July 7th, as the Warriors will have three days to match the offer sheet.
Doing so, will put them right at the salary cap max, as Barnes will make nearly double than every player on the team not named Draymond Green. After turning down his original $64 million extension, the market value for Barnes is surprisingly still steady for his current restricted free agency – with a handful of teams looking to throw a full max towards his way.
Let us know in the comments if you think Warriors should match this contract by next Monday.
