Just when you thought the incident was swept under the rug and forgotten about, the NBA has decided to take matters into their own hands months later and given Matt Barnes a punishment for his altercation with Derek Fisher back in October.
Barnes has been suspended two games by the league, missing Tuesday’s match against the Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies‘ Saturday game versus the Utah Jazz.
Coach Fisher and Barnes were involved in an incident at Matt’s ex-wife’s house, on a night where he went to check on the safety of his twin sons. According to Barnes, his son FaceTime’d him saying they were uncomfortable and that Derek was there. Matt then raced to the home where things escalated and got physical. Although the police came to the house, no files were ever charged.
Considering the case is closed, Fisher will not be punished in his involvement.
