Matthew Stafford Is Now the Highest-Paid Player in NFL

Only two months after Derek Carr became the highest paid quarterback (and player) in the NFL, Matthew Stafford has already taken the crown from his head thanks to a new Detroit Lions extension.

He will be paid around $27 million annually, slightly above Carr’s $25 million and the team will guarantee him a staggering $92 million, which includes a $50 million signing bonus.

The previous record for guaranteed money was Andrew Luck with $87 million.

Detroit has not announced the full financial details of the extension as of yet, but it is being reported that Stafford will have his full guarantee by year three and get paid $86 million by the start of next season.

Does Matt deserve this kind of money, though?
