Max Scherzer, Washington Nationals Agree To 7-Year Deal

84th MLB All-Star Game

Nats rotation gets even better after signing the former Cy Young winner!

Arguably one of the best free agents of this year’s MLB off-season was right-hander, Max Scherzer, and the Washington Nationals have reportedly signed the former Detroit Tigers ace to a seven-year deal for $210MM with deferrals.

Scherzer, who is coming off a 18-5 season in which he boasted a 3.15 ERA and 252 strikeouts, now joins an already stellar pitching staff that features the likes of Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann, Gio Gonzalez, and Doug Fister.

Though the Nationals’ weren’t the favorites for landing the right-handed ace, the club now boasts possibly one of the best pitching rotations in baseball that could potentially land them a World Series appearance and a title in this coming MLB season.

The 30-year old pitcher turned down an offer from his former team Detroit last March that would have paid him a $144 million from 2015-20. He is a career 91-50 with a 3.58 ERA in seven seasons with the D-Backs and Tigers. In 2013, he won the American Cy Young Award and in the last two seasons found his way to two All-Star games as a starter.
