Carmelo Anthony rallied the Knicks past the Bulls with a late 3 pointer in OT, spoiling the return of Derrick Rose earlier today.
No Amare, No Lin? No Problem!
Earlier today was the long awaited return of the reigning MVP Derrick Rose. To no surprise Rose endured a rough first half going 1-6 from the field scoring only 7 points. In the 2nd half, Rose caught his second wind & carried the bulls back down from a 21 point deficient to take a 9 point lead over the Knicks with five minutes left in the 4th quarter. With Derrick Rose scoring a 4 point play, Melo & J.R. Smith led the Knicks back to tie the game against the number one seeded Bulls. Carmelo hit his first clutch 3 pointer with just sixteen seconds left in regulation. Then in overtime with just 8 seconds left, Melo continued his signature style play as he gave the bulls the nail in a coffin with a game winning 3 pointer.
Carmello Anthony had a season best 43 points going 16 for 31, but more importantly made shots in late game situations when it mattered. Amare Stoudemire is scheduled to return to action right before the playoffs; but Lin who’s just coming off knee surgery last week is doubtful to return the first round of the playoffs. The next 2 weeks of basketball leading into the playoffs should be entertaing as the Knicks fight for their 8th seed with the Milwaukee Bucks.
