Miami Heat Officially Acquire Goran Dragić from Phoenix Suns

He now has a front office he can trust!

The Miami Heat may have lost the best player in the galaxy last summer (see: LeBron James), but the South Beach team has struck gold this year with landing one of the biggest free agents for the upcoming summer. Miami has now officially acquired 28-year-old star point guard, Goran Dragić (and his brother) in a three-team multiplayer deal with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans. The Heat sends away Danny Granger, Norris Cole, Shawne Williams, Justin Hamilton and two-first round picks to the Suns. As part of the deal, New Orleans will acquire Shawne Williams from Miami and will send John Salmons to Phoenix to complete the deal.

This move now gives Miami flexibility heading into the off-season to attract one more player in either free agency or via trade. With the emergence of Hassan Whiteside this season, Pat Riley is properly playing chess with his franchise to potentially make them a contender next season – in the Eastern Conference, at least. Phoenix on the other hand, looks to the future with even more first round picks, that Miami was reluctantly to give up at first. They still have their youth in Eric Bledsoe and Alex Len, but will now likely fall out of playoff contention.
