MLB Wild-Card Friday Preview

St. Louis at Atlanta
Time: 5:07 PM (ET)
Network: TBS

In a pitcher’s duel of two aces in the NFL, Kyle Lohse (16-3) of the Cardinals faces Kris Medlen (10-1) in the first game of the day. The Braves are yet to lose when Medlen starts marking 23 straight, seriously; I repeat, the Braves have not lost with Medlen starting. Cardinal’s veteran, Kyle Lohse had a pretty impressive year with a 2.86 ERA on 16 wins and only 3 losses. This will be Kris Medlen’s first postseason game so there will be obvious butterflies in the air for him, but Kyle Lohse has more to play for in this game as it could possibly dictate his future in the MLB as he could possibly receive a large contract this winter.

Chipper Jones if finally leaving after the season is over but is having knee problems. Today he’ll be playing on sheer aggression in which could possibly be his last game ever. The game comes down to whether St. Louis can produce run support for Kyle Lohse as they’ve managed to still produce in the hitting department despite losing Albert Pujols with power hitting from Yadier Molina, Allen Craig, Matt Holliday and David Freese.

Atlanta’s won 5 of the 6 meetings this season against the Cardinals, as I expect them to do the same this afternoon moving on to play the Washington Nationals. The winner of this game advances to the divisional playoffs to face every team’s worst nightmare this year, the Washington Nationals.
