Oklahoma City Thunder at LA Clippers
Time: 3:30 PM (ET) | Today
Network: ABC
The second game of today’s massive doubleheader on ABC matches up two of the Western Conferences top teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder will travel into Los Angeles to take on the Clippers, in what is a potential Western Conference Finals matchup. This game is even more important with the recent announcement that San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker will miss a month with an ankle sprain. That opens the door for the Clippers or Thunder to move in and take control of the top seed in the West.
The key for the Thunder to win this game is pretty simple. Get Kevin Durant going. If KD is on it is very tough to beat the Thunder simple and plain. If he can also get Westbrook involved in a way that can help get the role players working into the game scheme then OKC should have no problem taking this one. Defensively it will be important to try and control CP3, which is easier said than done.
Now onto Chris Paul and the Clippers. CP3 is having an MVP type season and would have a shot of winning if it wasn’t for that guy named LeBron James. Still Paul has the Clips fully positioned to make a deep run in the playoffs. From top to bottom the Clippers have one of the deepest teams in the league and they use that depth to their advantage every game. If CP3 can continually break down the Thunder defense today and get open shots for the rest of the team then they will be tough to beat, especially on their home floor.
This is sure to be a high action up and down game that should go down to the wire. I mean its Lob City vs the Thunder. This is the matchup that fans dream of in the NBA. The Staples Center will be a playoff-atmosphere in March. What more can you ask for?
