NBA Game Of The Week: Heat vs. Knicks

Heat Looking To Avenge 20-Blowout Loss Tonight In South Beach.

New York at Miami

As Hurricane Sandy was just ending and Mayor Bloomberg not cancelling the Knicks opener against the world champion Miami Heat, New York came out and upset the Heat in a 20-point blowout victory as netting in 29 three-pointers at over .500 from beyond the arch shooting. It’s still mind-boggling to think the Knickerbockers have the best record in the Eastern Conference thus far, as the Heat haven’t been taking the season serious this year, the aging Celtics are pacing themselves for the playoffs and Derrick Rose is still training to get back to action.

There’s no doubt Carmelo Anthony has been the MVP this year, feeling comfortable for the first time in New York since Mike D’Antoni left the city. Melo’s been motivated for the first time during his time in NYC to play top-tier level play on both sides of the court. Not to be discouraged with the injuries to their other star Amar’e Stoudemire & 2012 rookie sensation Iman Shumpert, New York has went on remain undefeated at home this year, only losing four games against Memphis (best record in the NBA), Dallas, Houston and last week to Brooklyn in the infamous rivalry game.

This game is more important to the Miami Heat to make a statement after their 20-point blowout loss they suffered last month, as they’ve been criticized more recently with their loss to the then 1-13 Washington Wizards giving them their second win of the season. All eyes are LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & the Miami Heat tonight to With the off-season acquirement of Ray Allen, the Heat have been able to find that long awaited consistent scoring option to free up the paint for Wade & Bron as he’s averaged 13 points a game.

The Knicks had off-season acquisitions too, but more importantly Jason Kidd, who brought immediate leadership to the team and changed how the face and make-up of this season in comparison to last season. Melo, Amare and Chandler all look up to Kidd and will listen to him on the court which what was missing for the Knicks with a floor general. If the team can consistently build chemistry remaining tough of the defense end like the old Knicks are known for doing, the NBA could be in trouble.

We know it’s not the playoffs yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a regular season rivalry game with two teams like this. This is a must watch game if you’re a fan of basketball and in a few hours, we can expect a good game going down to the wire.
