For the first time ever in the Clippers franchise history, they actually have the biggest buzz in the city of Angels currently as their regarding by many as legitimate NBA title contenders. Tonight they “host” the Lakers in the official legitimate “Battle of Los Angeles” game as both teams in their heads think they can win this year’s NBA title.

The G.O.A.T. Magic Johnson even went as far as to say the Clippers are the closest thing he’s seen to his 80’s ShowTime Lakers basketball teams. The Black Mamba, Kobe Bryant even commended the Clippers great play this season saying they were also one of the top contenders. The question that bothers me for this game will be whether the Clippers are really “legit” after going the entire December undefeated winning 17 straight; but starting in 2013, they’ve lost consecutive games by 10+ points.

The Clippers are definitely continuing to rise led by guard Chris Paul who’s been playing the best point-guard play the entire season leading his team to the 2nd best record in the NBA at 25-8. The Lakers are on the verge of becoming irrelevant with an aging starting lineup, lack of a bench, lack of commitment to defense from the coaches and a superstar center not committed to sign a long-term contract yet.

Obviously, it’s the regular season as we expect these two teams to be in postseason this year as they could possibly meet some point during the playoffs but tonight’s going to really tell us a lot about both teams whether it’s a blowout or a close game. Kobe Bryant recently said he’s playing the best basketball of his career leading the NBA in scoring at 30.3 ppg in his best offensive year in 6 years.

Kobe’s going to play no matter what the situation and give all his body can handle but the questions that linger are will the other 3 stars show up as well along with some help from Ron Artest and the bench? That remains to be seen as you can enjoy this game of the week before we move attention to Football for the following three days.
