Carmelo Anthony has just been announced he will be in the starting lineup tonight to play in our pick for NBA Game Of The Week tonight at the Mecca when the New York Knicks host the Brooklyn Nets in an epic meeting. So far this season the teams have played twice and each has one won of the match-ups in extremely tight games down the stretch. With Melo back in the lineup tonight, the pressure is now on the Knicks to win at home to regain keep bragging rights away from the Kings County rivals.
Monday night, Jeremy Lin made his return to MSG and gave the Knicks their first loss at home this year with Melo out of the lineup. Some would say since the Knicks finally lost at home, the pressure is officially of but I have to disagree as with Melo playing his best ball ever in his career, expectations have never been here for the Knickerbockers.
Brooklyn has fell to 6th in the East dropping two consecutive loses but with the recent returns of Kris Humphries and Brook Lopez, they’re looking at this game as a winnable one as Lopez wasn’t present the last time these two met in Brooklyn.
Both teams and boroughs don’t really like each other as I expect no cross-over Nets fans to invade MSG like Barclays suffered the first two matches. Make sure to watch this game as I expect a heavily influenced playoff-like atmosphere under those bright lights at the Garden and play to coincide with each other to make for great basketball we all enjoy.
