5 Months After Trading Chris Paul, Hornets Win 2012 NBA Lottery
With a 13.7 percent chance of winning the NBA Draft, the New Orleans Hornets won rights in selecting the overall 1st pick in the 2012 NBA Draft next month in New York. Initially, the Charlotte Bobcats who had the worst record in NBA history going 7-59, were the heavy favorites to land the no. 1 pick with a 25% chance to win the draft but fell to the no. 2 slot. Bobcats GM, Michael Jordan who’s been privately frustrated with the lack of success his team had this year, had possibly the worst day of the season when his Bobcats fell in the draft. The Hornets were previously owned by the NBA until they were recently sold to New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson last month. Many might feel this might be a conspiracy for the former NBA owned Hornets to win the lottery but according to CBS sports, that would be impossible rig if you’re in a room where the drawings are conducted in front of media. The Hornets endured rough season after losing Chris Paul now will have a chance to add a potential future superstar in former Kentucky freshman player, Anthony Davis. While the Hornets were the winners in the draft landing the no. 1 and no 10. picks, the Portland Trail Blazers also received 2 top 11 picks with the no. 6 and no. 11 respectively.
