New Orleans Officially Becomes 2017 NBA All-Star Game Host

The NBA removed the upcoming 2016-2017 All-Star game from Charlotte, NC and with other cities in talks of hosting the event, New Orleans has become the new destination next February.

The move comes as North Carolina’s House Bill 2 stayed in tact and wasn’t revoked (the law denies gay and transgender communities to use the bathroom of their biological gender instead of the one with which they identify).

With a very short time frame to make the decision, Las Vegas was ruled out because of scheduling conflicts and New Orleans won out in the race for the event.

New Orleans will be eligible to host the All-Star game as soon as 2020, but the NBA might be reluctant to do so for other cities who haven’t participated.
