After holding an open workout for major league teams last month, Tim Tebow got a call back and it was from none other than from the New York Mets.
The former Heisman Trophy winner had some interest, especially from the Atlanta Braves, even though most scouts did not rank his workout too high. Prior to his workout, Tebow hadn’t seen regular play since high school and most criticized his move, especially after failing to make an impact in the NFL. Some even went as far to say that a team signing him would only be signing him as a business move rather than talent alone, and it would be a disservice to those who have worked hard through the minor league system.
Tim will now report to either the Instructional League or Arizona Fall League. Considering he’s now about to be in New York, the media circus surrounding Tebow will be at an all-time high.
UPDATE: Tebow signed with the Mets because they were the only team (out of 10 who wanted to sign him) that would let him do television work while in the minor leagues.
