If there’s any player with the ability of dethroning LeBron James as the NBA’s best, it’s Kyrie Irving. With Bron’s contract set to expire after next season, rumors are already swirling that he’ll be headed back “home” to partner up with Kyrie.

While we have to wait to see if that outcome will add to the NBA storyline in the future, the Cavs are already gearing up for this year’s NBA draft. They missed the 2013 playoffs due to injuries from Kyrie and Anderson Varejao going out nearly the entire season.

Already having a back-court for the future in Irving and Dion Waiters, the Cavs are now looking at drafting Georgetown swingman Otto Porter, who will complement the team immediately if he lands with Cleveland. Kyrie had a career year this season in points-per-game averaging 23 and 6 assist in only 35 minutes, but has dealt with injuries hindering his full potential.

Nike basketball caught up with the last year’s rookie of the year to discuss his hunger for the game of basketball and using his passion to take the next steps into becoming a pro. He touched on growing up with his father and recalls the two playing basketball in the majority of their spare time. Kyrie also talked about his future goals in life to remain consistent and becoming a leader for the next generation of ballers to win championships.

He closed out the clip with promoting Nike’s hyperdunk collection, saying they’re the best looking comfortable shoes he’s played in. Hopefully we’ll be seeing the “Nike Irving’s” in the near future.
