When DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Golden State Warriors last season, it was almost a foregone conclusion that they would win the NBA title because by the end of the year, they would have five former and current All-Stars.
Unfortunately, Boogie hurt his quad in first game back (and first game ever in the playoffs). By the time he returned, it was code red for the Warriors and they were scrambling to stay alive in the series. Cousins had one good game, but when it was all said and done, didn’t make much of an impact in the NBA Finals.
Today, Adrian Wojnarowski reports that there isn’t even a market for him in free agency, which is why he hasn’t signed with a team yet. He said he isn’t even in the market for a mid level exception with any team right now, which is what he got with Golden State last season.
If this is true, it’s a sad state of affairs for Boogie, who may be injury prone but still has gas left in the tank to contribute to an NBA team.
Worst comes to worst, maybe he’s waiting for Kawhi Leonard to sign and head to L.A.
Hold your head Boogie.
UPDATE: Cousins has enlisted a new agent (Jeff Schwartz) to see if he can find a market for his services.
