OS Top 5: NBA 2012 Season Preview

Coming into this season, this is by far the deepest most talented roster in all of basketball (sorry Lob City fans, your team has no consistent post-presence) which is why I gave the C’s the no. 2 spot on our list.

No team wants to return to the promise land more than the Boston Celtics who’ve suffered injuries the past four seasons after their 2008 Championship that prevented them from repeating and repeating.

When healthy and motivated, the Celtics are by far the best team, in my opinion, as most of you who know, I’m not a fan of their city but I can’t deny greatness in my presence.. ever.

With Kevin Garnett coming back from hip injury that prevented his lift most of last year, he still played younger than he has in nearly 5 years along with Paul Piece suffering from knee issues and missing their best wing defender Avery Bradley too.

With losing Ray Allen to free agency in the off-season the team signed star wing-man Jason Terry to a two-year deal who’s guaranteed a championship this year. Already having history with guarantees I wouldn’t put it past the Jet to keep his word and deliver and but it’s going to be a difficult road ahead with the new east in place with the Nets, Knicks and 76ers all improving.

The Jet will instantly fill the Ray Allen void as he’ll be able to be the floor leader when their star PG is on the bench and can still knock down the open trey at will when necessary. Scary!

Adding to their team in the draft was two certified studs on the court in Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger who will both be trained as the future of the team. Boston arguably had the best draft picking up those two which increase their depth at the front court.

Not to mention, they also signed free agent swing-man Courtney Lee who’s been a proven scorer in the past and Jeff Green the undersized power-forward who can shoot long range will also be returning to the team this year.

And with all of that I haven’t even mentioned their best player and best point guard of all time without a shot, Rajon Rondo. Rondo displayed his shot improvement in last year’s post-season as that’s been the only thing hindering him from being the best point guard I’ve seen since the likes of prime-Jason Kidd.

Along with the best coach in the Eastern Conference, Doc Rivers, no one in the basketball world should sleep on this extremely deep team and they have a closer in Paul Peirce to end the game in crunch-time.

The Celtics along with the final team on the countdown are the only teams that are legit to me in the NBA.
