Heat in 5 is the new motto as people only laughed at me when I said they would win 4 straight after their game 1 loss to OKC. 2pac “They was laughing at me!” Who else could be the number one team in the NBA? Only the NBA Champion Miami Heat.
After finally winning his first NBA Title after a long 9-season journey, LeBron James was finally crowned the true king of the league removing the huge weight from his shoulders and can now play basketball for fun.
Still not in his prime and being the best player in the game, James has worked even harder over the summer to improve his post-game and added a hook shot to his arsenal of moves and now with finally being on his first GREAT team with added pieces over the summer, nothing is in Bron’s way to handle business except himself.
Chris Bosh will be returning back healthy this year having the championship experience (as well as Dwyane Wade finally playing healthy for the first time in 3 years) after knee surgery which he’s ready to add a few more rings to his hands over the next coming years.
Over the summer, the Heat signed free agents Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis who will be able to spread the floor for both James and Wade while their slashing through defenders and cutting to the paint. If defenders play pass or the paint against Miami, the shooters will be left uncontested to make it rain exploiting team’s schemes and plans to contain them.
Along with Wade returning back injury free, Mike Miller who hasn’t been able to stand up in years is coming back this year semi-healthy after a summer of treatment to his back in preparations for the season. He elected to avoid surgery which could’ve put his season and career in jeopardy and only wanted rehab. After his 7 three pointer game 5 efforts in the Heat’s closeout game, he’ll be needed again this year to help the team in the shooting department.
Also, people shouldn’t sleep on Mario Chalmers. He had a big game 4 performance leading the Miami down from 17 against the Thunder to give them a 3-1 series lead setting up a game 5 victory. With Championship experience, Chalmers is now a legitimate starting guard in the NBA and being the last target on the team is always a plus in keep his composure (shout outs to Lamar Odom) to give the team a spark when most needed.
The only team out of the east to repeat as champions over the last 15 years has been the Chicago Bulls as I expect the Heat to make it to the Finals this year and next to win three consecutive titles.
Does that defeat the purpose of watching NBA Action? No, because last year before Derrick Rose was injured I was sold on them beating the Heat and winning the NBA title.
So injuries can always affect outcomes of championships, just ask Boston. This should be a very entertaining year of basketball as we can all enjoy the marvelous dunk galore of nuts in some player’s mouths as well as those last second shots and come from behind victories we all enjoy.
