We’re in the last days of the Melo in NYC

It’s no longer a mystery if Carmelo Anthony is playing his final days at Madison Square Garden, as, Phil Jackson is looking to get rid of his best player at any moment. According to Frank Isola of ESPN, Sirius XM and behind-the-scenes of the team – New York is looking to ship Carmelo to possibly the Los Angeles Clippers or Boston Celtics, and basically anywhere else to get him off their team.

It’s no secret that Melo doesn’t want to leave the rotten apple, but after yesterday’s failed attempt at trading him away to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kevin Love, the Zenmaster has publicly let it be known that he’s looking to rebuild the team around Kristaps Porziņģis.

The most bizarre news of this story, is that Jackson reportedly doesn’t even want back a big-three member from the Clippers in exchange for Melo. We’re assuming something will pick up significant progress in the coming days – possibly Super Bowl Weekend. It’s unsure if Boston would be willing to give up their 2017 Brooklyn Nets pick or younger talent to acquire Antony; but Phil is determined to find a destination that Melo will agree to void his no-trade clause.

Carmelo is still due $54 million over the next two seasons of his contract, including a player option in 2018. But in 2019, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent and will have a shot at one final contract before his basketball career ends. Our suggestion would be ship DeAndre Jordan to the Knicks, but let us know in the comments where do you think Melo will end up next month.
