Rondo and Buckets, though?
Last season, Rajon Rondo spent the majority of his time in Sacramento rebuilding his worth with this Kings. The previous NBA Champion garnered a 12 point, 12 assist and 6 rebound per game consistent line throughout the year, but Sacramento failed to make the post-season.
Many suitors soon became intrigued with the veteran floor general coming to their team, as the Chicago Bulls have now announced they’ve landed the former star player on a new two-year deal. The partially guaranteed contract, which is reportedly worth $28 million, will have Rajon looking to secure a long-term home with playing alongside the second best shooting guard.
Following losses of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah last week to the New York Knicks, many expected the team to go into full tanking. However, this new move of pairing Jimmy up with a pass-first point guard, as well as Fred Hoiberg changing his coaching style to cater to new players; the Bulls are a long-shot to at least contend for an 8th spot in the updated Eastern Conference.
Essentially, Jimmy Butler gave the impression that either him or D-Rose had to leave the team this summer, with management making a tough decision on loyalty to the guy who helped rebuild Chicago. With Nikola Mirotic, Bobby Portis and recent draftee Denzel Valentine on their roster, Chicago now has time to build for the future if they can’t land a significant free agent next summer.
Let us know how you think Rondo and Jimmy Butler will mesh next season.
