Rajon Rondo was having a career year with the Boston Celtics in points per game, averaging nearly 14 with 6 boards, and was on the verge of his third ever double-digit assist per game average for an entire season.
But in a home game against the Atlanta Hawks on January 25th, his 2013 season would come to an end, suffering a torn ACL on the court. Before Rondo went out, Boston was under .500 but have since went on to win 20 of their last 35 games —highlighted by the recent emergence of Jeff Green, taking a starting role over future Hall-of-Famer Kevin Garnett, who’s been dealing with ankle injuries.
While the Celtics aren’t looked at as a threat right now because of the Knicks and Heat having pending championship-like seasons, their experience is never underestimated during April-May. In his first interview since the injury, Rondo sits down with ESPN’s Hannah Storm to discuss his season-ending knee injury, road to recovery and fears of coming back next year from the ACL tear.
