Now that the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s season is officially over, the biggest question in the city is whether or not Paul George is going to come back and improve on his first season sharing the spotlight with Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. Obviously, there have been rumblings since last year that he wanted to play in Los Angeles for the Lakers, but this “super team” in OKC really had championship aspirations and can still make things work.
Undoubtedly, they failed this season, which is what complicates things.
During his press conference after the Thunder’s exit from the playoffs, it seemed like George wanted to stay in OKC, yet reports are now coming out that say different. The opposite, actually.
According to Ryen Russillo on The Russillo Show, he is out:
“Today is the first time I’ve heard from anybody that I trust that George is gone. I don’t know where, but it’s a ‘he’s gone’ deal.”
If these reports prove to be true, it would be a huge blow to the Thunder, who traded All-Star Victor Oladipo and solid young prospect Domantas Sabonis to the Indiana Pacers in hopes they could resign George long-term.
The organization is going to have to give a massive pitch for him to stay at this point. That or severly shake up the roster and/or the coaching staff. Maybe we find out before July 1.
Do you think Paul George leaves or stays?
