Russell Westbrook was Almost Traded to Raptors in Shocking Kawhi Leonard Plans

Likely traded soon. . .

With Kawhi Leonard officially joining the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this morning, more reports have emerged on what happened leading up to the shocking events. Prior to joining the Clippers, Kawhi was trying to stay in Toronto and recruit Paul George to Toronto.

According to the Los Angeles Times, PG13 was in favor of the move, but OKC general manager Sam Presti was trying to package Russell Westbrook in the trade. This would’ve been a major overhaul of contracts the Raptors had to take in, considering Westbrook had received a super-max, as well as PG and Kawhi both being under max deals.

Toronto president Masai Ujiri and GM Bobby Webster balked at the offer, after OKC asked for Pascal Siakam, which immediately led to the exit of Kawhi. We’re under the belief Kawhi wanted to stay in Toronto, since he’s extremely close to Ujiri and was probably the only person he took serious in free agency.

Let us know in the comments if you would’ve made the deal, including Westbrook.
