Carmelo Anthony

A few weeks ago, Carmelo Anthony finally hit the three-o. Currently, ‘Melo still remains the only player from his 2003 draft class without a ring because his comrades LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh (excluding Darko Miličić) all have with multiple championships now. Unfortunately, Anthony has never had the luxury of playing with championship level talent he’s wished for the last 10 years in the big apple.

We will cite the 2012 New York Knicks team as the deepest roster of talent he’s ever been surrounded by, including playing with the first ever real point guard during his career in an past-primed Jason Kidd. Prior to his arrival with the Knicks, he was under the impression Amar’e Stoudemire and he would have success, given the power-forward’s MVP-like season in 2011. With Stoduemire opting in for the final year of his large contract, this puts a huge strain on what New York can do in free agency. Even with the arrival of Phil Jackson and his presence expected during practice sessions, we’re not sure if ‘Melo will want to stick around another season as the scapegoat of Penn Plaza, with his prime window of winning a title coming close to an end.

If New York still owned draft picks this year, we’d recommend Anthony to stay another year and trust Phil, but situations in Houston with James Harden and Dwight Howard, along with the defensive-team he needs with Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose in Chicago are both viable situations he will strongly consider. Being part of team Jordan is also a plus and something fans will respect if he decides to be Bulls-bound.

Likely Destinations: Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat
