The Cleveland Browns Release Johnny Manziel

After two years in turmoil out in Cleveland, Johnny Manziel has been officially waived by the Browns today. The team announced the move, which comes to no shock to anyone who has been paying attention to the media circus that has surrounded the former first round pick.

Off the field issues plagued the young quarterback for much of his tenure in Cleveland, answering to questions of work ethic, constant partying (plus rehab) and domestic violence.

If Manziel clears waivers, he will be able to sign with any team, but with the NFL still investigating an incident involving his girlfriend in Dallas, teams will be weary. The league has not yet decided whether he violated the personal conduct policy.

He ends his tenure in Cleveland only starting in eight games, with a 2-6 record, throwing for seven touchdowns, 1,675 yards passing and seven interceptions.

The Browns can now move on from this disaster that has been following them since draft night in 2014 and look towards the draft and/or free agency to fill the quarterback spot moving forward.
