Last year on July 13th, Tim Lincecum threw his first career no-hitter against a struggling San Diego Padres team that finished 10 games under .500 last season.
Fast forward to today, almost a year after he earned the first career no-no, The man they call “The Freak” was at it again this afternoon as himself and the San Francisco Giants faced the Padres in the final game of a three-game set, where the two-time NL Cy Young Award winner tossed his second career no-hitter against the club, the first pitcher to do so since Addie Joss no-hit the same team twice in the early 1900’s.
Not only was the Giants right-hander doing it with his arm, he was fairly unstoppable with his bat as well, going 2-3 with a walk, scoring two runs and striking out once. After today’s win he pushes his wins total up to 6-5 on the season with a 4.42 ERA.

Following his previous no-hitter where he needed to threw a career-high 148 pitches, Lincecum only needed 113 this go around to finish the feat today, where he struck out six and walked only one hitter.
The no-hitter comes just a month after Lincecum and other members of the Giants bullpen almost threw a combined no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs. It is the third one of the MLB season and the third from a SF Giants pitcher in the last 3-years. Lincecum also joins the great Christy Mathewson as the only pitchers to throw two no-hitters while in a Giants uniform.
The Giants are set to start a four-game series tomorrow against the Cincinnati Reds.
