Timberwolves Are Trying to Facilitate Multi-Team Trade for D’Angelo Russell

It has been reported for a few weeks/months that the Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in D’Angelo Russell, though the Golden State Warriors are strong in the stance of keeping him. But the Wolves have been active to include other teams to make the deal happen before the trade deadline.

According to ESPN, the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets could be in play for a deal that will help every team and give Minnesota draft assets for the future to trade to GS.

If everything goes to plan, Robert Covington will be moving to Houston, Clint Capela will be traded to the Hawks and the Wolves will acquire the draft picks to facilitate a move for Russell to play alongside Karl-Anthony Towns. The Warriors are not opposed to a trade, considering they want to shed cap salary for the future.

They already own a high draft pick for the 2020 NBA Draft, though this year’s class is not as strong as previous seasons has been.

The trade deadline is Thursday, so it’ll be interesting to see if they make it happen.
