Timberwolves Fire Tom Thibedeau as Coach and President

It didn’t take a large losing streak or big controversy to fire him. Tom Thibedeau was relieved of his duties as head coach and president of basketball operations from the Minnesota Timberwolves after a two game winning streak, a blowout win against the Los Angeles Lakers and as they sit 11 in the Western Conference standings, only two games back of the eighth seed.

The team had this to say about the firing:

“We would like to thank Tom for his efforts and wish him all the best. These decisions are never easy to make, but we felt them necessary to move our organization forward.”

Another person to go was Andy Greer, who was fired as assistant coach.

For the short term, Ryan Saunders will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season and Scott Layden will take over as president of basketball operations while still remaining as the GM of the franchise.

Does this mean the Wolves are ready to tank?
