Kobe’s Six Treys Enough To Help Team USA Pull Away With Victory.
At 33 years of age and the oldest player on Team USA roster, the Black Mamba looked younger than anybody in today’s game against Australia during the late stretches of the 4th quarter. Kobe Bryant who had struggled finding his shot during the Olympics only averaging just 9.4 points, as he drilled in 4 consecutive three-pointers in the final quarter to lift the Americans over the Aussies. Kobe lead all scores (and shot attempts) for Team USA scoring 20 points going 6-10 from beyond the arc. Deron Williams and Carmelo Anthony scored 18 and 17 respectively.
The story of the day was Kobe, but LeBron James recorded the first triple-double in Olympic history with 11 points, 11 boards and 11 assist. James also passed Scottie Pippen into first place all-time in the US Olympic assist list. With this victory, the undefeated Americans now move on to the semifinals to face Argentina; while in the upper bracket, Spain plays Russia. The winners of both games play for the GOLD on Sunday.
Their next game is scheduled for Friday against Argentina on NBC Sports.
