U.S. Men’s Basketball Routs Tunisia 110-63 In Blowout Fashion

Team USA Overcomes Slow Start With Strong Finish.

In their 2nd game for this years 2012 Olympics, Team USA Men’s basketball defeated Tunisia in blowout fashion. USA initially started off playing poorly in the first quarter as coach Mike Krzyzewski eventually pulled out the entire starting unit (hockey style) with hopes that the 2nd unit would bring a much needed boost in scoring to win this game. By doing so, he got exactly what he asked for from the second unit led by Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony as they went on a 12-0 run to close out the quarter. Tunisia would actually stay within striking distance closing the gap to 5 but that was before an 11-0 run by USA to close out the first half. Coach K was so impressed that he even kept the 2nd unit in to start the 2nd half as they went on a 23-3 run to start the quarter. Highlighted by a dunk galore in the 3rd quarter, USA would finish the 2nd half outscoring Tunisia by 34 to make this victory a 47-point blowout.

Team USA is now the only 2-0 team in Group A play and are now a heavy favorite to win the Gold as they control their own destiny now with wins from here on out.

Their next game is scheduled for Thursday against Nigeria at 5:15 ET on NBC Sports.
