Mike D’Antoni
Win-Loss Record: 388-339 (.533)
Championships: None (Lost in Conference Finals 2005-2006)
I’m not amazed at anything in that happens in the NBA let alone sports anymore as we’re actually talking about Mike D’Antoni being the next coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. We’re not making this up or adding his name into the mix of coaches as the Lakers owner Jerry Buss has listed out D’Antoni as one of his top choices to become the next coach of the Lakers. If you want the greatest offensive NBA season coach until May starts, then Mikey is your best choice, but the Lakers don’t think regular season, nor do their fans. The month of June is the only thing that matters in Los Santos.
This move would make sense to bring in D’Antoni from having history with Steve Nash in Phoenix for four years as they averaged nearly 60 wins every season in the classic fast-paced Suns offense we all loved for entertainment purposes. If Mike came to the Lakers, he could instantly bring that same offensive style from Phoenix to Los Angeles which would get the Lakers a top 3-seed in the west fighting with San Antonio and Oklahoma City.
The Lakers bench would also have freedom to get out in the open court and run scoring easy transition buckets running opponents out the gym on a regular basis. Dwight Howard’s offensive game would see a vast improvement as Mike’s helped Amare develop his game in the past in both Phoenix and New York. Last year, he was fired from the Knicks after a lengthy losing streak that even “Linsanity” couldn’t even save.
After this past summer’s Olympic Games in London, where he was assistant coach to Mike Krzyzewski, D’Antoni should be motivated more than ever to return to head coaching duties and no stranger to bright lights with all eyes on him which Los Angeles could be a good situation for his coaching career.
