Head Scratcher: Philadelphia 76ers
Depending on how you look at it (short term or long term), the Sixers can actually be both winners and losers. In hindsight, they just drafted two players in Joel Embiid and Dario Saric who will make absolutely no impact for their 2014-2015 campaign. The 76ers will be a Top 3 lottery pick again in next year’s draft. The Philadelphia organization has no urgency to win any time soon. Tanking is their new winning.
If we’re talking risk and reward, they probably took the biggest of them all, that can pay dividends, in at least two or three years. Especially because in the second round, they took steals like K.J. McDaniels, Jerami Grant and Vasilije Micic.
A team with Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel, Dario Saric, K.J. McDaniels, and Thaddeus Young at 100% might cause some wreckage in the Eastern Conference. That’s if, when and assuming Noel and Embiid stay healthy, and Saric works out.
We’ll see you in 2018 and let you know how it all panned out.
