Take-Two Interactive has revealed it’ll finally be joining the wave of competitive gaming with its next Road to the Finals tournament. Beginning this February 15th in North America, gamers on NBA 2K16 will be able to form their own Pro-AM team of five ballers, and then compete in qualifying events.
2K Sports said in a statement, “Teams can participate in any of the 16 qualifying events where they will need to win at least four games in order to qualify. Those four games will be scored based on the team’s performance and then ranked on the event leaderboard. The top score of each qualifying event day will be deemed the winner and will move on to the tournament.”
After the sweet 16 teams are announced, those winners will face-off in a single-elimination tournament on May 21st, where the two finalist of the pool will meet in June. Coincidentally, that will be the same week as the real-world NBA Finals, as each team will play for a $250,000 championship.
