One of the more unusual reports this holiday, comes from the NY Post, as a source has told the big apple newsprint that Sony is planning to merge Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Tokyo-based giant would only be making this switch for the states, as S.I.E. boss Andrew House would reportedly acquire oversight for Sony Pictures.
While a Sony spokesman confirmed to the Post that House will not be doing daily control of the studio – but didn’t officially deny the report. At the moment, Sony has until March 31st to make up its mind regarding the possible restructuring of its US operations.
