EXCLUSIVE: The Reason why PS5 & Xbox Series X Cost of Video Games are Increasing after NBA 2K21 Leak

Holiday 2020. . .

Over the last 15 years, we’ve been accustomed to the $60 price point of games for consoles. Beforehand, there was a $50 price point on PS2, GameCube and original Xbox. However, a slight 10-buck increase wasn’t that much of an issue. Now, with new console prices set to be revealed later this month, a leak happened for NBA 2K21.

The price of NBA 2K21 on PS5 and Xbox Series X will be $70, for the standard edition. This is set to be the norm for all standard games going forward, with a likely $100 buck standard for any digital deluxe version we see for a game released beyond 2020. This isn’t shocking, because we were told months ago, that the price of games would be going up for new consoles.

However, the reason this is happening, is because each PS5 and Xbox Series X is costing both companies so much to create. To make back money, on machines they’re going to be losing profit on, the $70 buck standard will become a reality.

We’re expecting the PlayStation 5 to be upwards above $700, with the Xbox Series X set for $500. The price won’t matter in our opinion, because you’re still going to buy your console of choice – and in our preference, all consoles.

Let us know in the comments what you think of buying $70 games this holiday.
