RIP Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater?

With Electronic Arts debunking Skate 4 rumors last week, it looks like the only new skateboarding game we’ll see in the near future will be from the originator. Following the epic fail of 2015’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, the Birdman is leaving Activision to upstart a brand-new franchise.

In an interview with Jenkem Magazine, Hawk opened up about his direct return to extinct extreme action genre saying, “Not from Activision. I’m potentially working on something but it’s so early I couldn’t talk about it. I don’t have any contracts signed but it’s exciting. I feel like it’s with the right people so I should know more in the next couple months.” It’s unclear if this will be a console-based release, but we’re imagining a possible smartphone release for the next Tony Hawk game.
