AMC Explains ‘Better Call Saul’ Season 4 Delay & Talks Darker Tone Changes

Coming in the fourth quarter. . .

It’s February and we’re without our usual fix of Better Call Saul. Well, last June, the show was renewed weeks after its season three finale, as writers got a late start to put together content.

Unlike previous seasons, the senior year will feature extensive storytelling of how the Saul Goodman character was born, as well as going beyond the events of Breaking Bad to present day.

In a recent interview with AV Club, show creator Vince Gilligan went to say, “The show gets darker this season. I think it’s still going to have moments of humor and those fun Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill moments. I don’t know that they’ll ever go away completely. But as you would expect from the end of season three, Jimmy’s in for quite an emotional ride.”

Considering production just started a few weeks ago, season four isn’t expected to premiere until September at the earliest. Let us know in the comments what you think about the progression.
