Through the years, we’ve seen our share of early Kanye West footage that always takes us back to the first time we heard his music. Sometimes it feels like he’s completely changed from that hungry Chicago beat maker that always wanted to be a rapper, but in some ways, he’s just the same ‘ol G.
To coincide with the oral history of Kanye West’s College Dropout and 10-year anniversary of the album’s release, Billboard sat down with directors Coodie & Chike to speak on the old Yeezy. Not only did they tell a bunch of stories of the early days of his career, they also played never-before-seen video that’s been tucked in the vault. From him at the hospital after his accident, to a speech of him premiering “Through The Wire” at the 40/40 Club, and various clips that later ended up in the video, as well as an explanation of how the idea for the visual came about.
