Late last year, it was announced that a new documentary about Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine was coming to HBO. Now, we’ve got a first teaser for The Defiant Ones, which will premiere July 9th.
The four-part documentary series tells the story of how Dre and Jimmy defied the odds and achieved the American dream through music (Interscope Records) and technology (Beats Electronics). The teaser is only brief, but it stars the likes of Eminem and Bono.
HBO describes the piece as “an unquestionably bold film about the unlikely but ultimately unbreakable bond of trust and friendship between two street-smart men from different worlds who have shaped many of the most exciting and extreme moments in recent pop culture.”
The Defiant Ones is directed by Allen Hughes, the man behind Menace II Society and Dead Presidents.
